Digital Media is about to change everything; even more so with the recent release of the Apple Ipad, third party digital media companies are scrambling to debut. Everyone wants first dibs on creating specialized “user friendly” interactive digital media software that will revolutionize the way we read and/or view books and magazines. The most promising in our opinion is Other Edition. They are prepared to give us something fresh and new. Instead of focusing immediately on books (plenty of other large corporations are covering and monopolizing that front) they found their own niche… creative magazines (which already have a large dedicated readership/fan base). Other Editon is working to make this digital media available for many forms of hardware including your iPhones, iPads, and macbooks (we’re sure PC capability as well, but we are Mac snobs, lol). Magazines offered in digital format will include Interview, Arena Homme Plus, Wound, and Numero to name a few. They currently have a minimal, well designed splash page with the simple text : ” THE NEW PLATFORM… with the best creative magazines on digital and mobile is coming soon”. We here at CO love it. We found their ad while reading the current issue of Interview magazine. We will keep you posted will the latest and greatest news on Other Edition and may possibly get you a sneak peek and/or info regarding their clandestine projects and plans being created there soon. In the meantime visit their site here and sign up for their mailing list. Enjoy!

All the digital artists (photographers, retouchers, illustrators, graphic designers) that use Wacom tablets daily can breathe a sigh of relief. Wacom recently announced their latest addition to it’s Intuos 4 tablet line-up… The Intuos 4 Wireless; a professional tablet with all the features as the wired model, but bluetooth enabled, which allows the user to work up to 10 meters away from their computer (which is overkill, unless they have a 100 inch display,LOL). As of now, they only offer an 8″ x 5″ model for $399.We are pleased to see the rapid advances in Wacom’s Intuos 4 series technology after the lack of consistent development in previous models. Get yours here.

Sony recently announced it’s newest contender in the “smartphone of the moment” battle. This time the team at Sony decided to tackle the Blackberry customer base and target the business audience. The first of many to come is the Aspen. We love how it gives dual functionality of a touch screen and a traditional keyboard. Below is a list of it’s features and official pic:

Here is a quote via Kevin Rose (creator of digg.com) giving an explanation on why the new Apple iPad is still a great device although it’s being panned by alot of tech critics. We found his insight very plausible. Here is the excerpt:

We already did an iPad post, but there is more. The accessories that are surfacing are purely amazing. One thing Steve Jobs does is sell you on his products…in one way or another. We here at CO are assuming that if the iPad hasn’t sold you yet, they are counting on the content (teaming with magazine publishers Conde Nast the creators of GQ and Vogue, industry leading interactive game developers/software developers) and accessories to reel you in. A few are pictured below and expect tons more to surface before year end. We’ll keep you posted with the best. Enjoy!

Via Endgadget:
Yes folks — the rumors are true. Apple is holding an event on January 27th to show off something the company is calling their “latest creation.” Hair standing on end? Good. The proceedings will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and will get underway at 10AM Pacific. We’ll be there live — as usual — covering every little second of the action… so get ready!
Update: We’re not ones for wild speculation, but the inclusion of splatter paint and the use of the word “creation” could suggest that if we do see the long-rumored Tablet at this event, the focus could be slanted towards art, music, and movie-making. Maybe we’ll finally figure out what the point of an Apple tablet is! On the other hand, that might just be a bit of wild speculation. Feel free to generate your own kooky concepts in comments — we promise not to judge you.

It looks like Dell has beat Apple to the tablet release…and after viewing the accompanying video we have to say WOW!

Via Uncrate:
Dell Mini 5
“If the last week was any indication, 2010 will definitely be the year of the tablet, and the Dell Mini 5 ($TBA) looks to be a solid option amongst the sea of upcoming slates. Rocking a five-inch multitouch screen, five-megapixel rear and webcam-quality front facing cameras, a built-in SIM card option, Wi-Fi, an included headset, and Android OS, it will be blurring the lines between phone and computer later this year.”
The folks at Gizmodo even have hands-on video:
